The Opportunist fell along this category. But now I understand why everyone hated the second part of the book. Melodrama much? But still I loved the first half enough to give it 4 stars. I can only hope Tarryn Fisher reads this book and not go down this angle for Dirty Red!

Some authors gots what it takes to keep things going in a way that works and some just I really liked the first part of this book childhood friends to lovers storyline, my fave! She worked the sexual tension like a pro -- the playful banter, the underlying chemistry, the growing insecurity, anxiousness, the butterflies…it was awesome! I enjoyed it all immensely and really, I was thinking this would be a solid 4 star read for awhile there. And then, the moment finally comes — they hook up.
